Amount Raised: £165.71 so far
For 2017 I have set myself the target of running 2017 miles, through training runs, marathons and ultra marathons. In the past 2 years I have already ran 35 marathons for Mind, and this year I’m aiming to run (at least) another 15 to get that total to 50.
Each month I also plan to have a separate challenge, such as running a particularly challenging race, Escape From Meriden I’m looking at you.
January started by attempting to run 10K everyday, for all 31 days in the month.
For February I returned to Bolton Abbey to run both days of the Bolton Abbey Trail Marathon, whilst in March I completed my first Ultra of the year with the 32 mile Haworth Hobble.
100 Mile attempts, 24 Hour Races, Conquering Mountains and running numerous races in a day/weekend are also lined up for later in the year.

Charity: National Eczema Society
Amount Raised: £4,445.11
In 2013 as part of my 1000km Challenge I aimed to run either a 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon every weekend to cover 1000KM for charity. On the way I traveled all over the country from Portsmouth to Gateshead, Liverpool to Norwich, entering 53 races, including 2 races in a day on three separate occasions and raised £4,500 for the National Eczema Society. By the end of the year I had ran 6 marathons, 15 half marathons and 23 10ks with the rest of the races ranging from 5ks to 30ks, covering road, trail and obstacle courses.
I chose to raise money for the National Eczema Society because I have witnessed first-hand the physical and emotional toll these conditions have had on my partner, also a graduate of the University of Lincoln, who has been suffering from eczema for the past 7 years. Alongside eczema, she also suffers from other skin conditions including atopic dermatitis (and asthma, hayfever, rhinitis), contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, neurodermatitis and urticaria. Before meeting her I, like many, was ignorant of how extreme eczema and related conditions could be, but I have since learnt the debilitating effect it can have on day to day life.

Many illnesses and conditions are widely spoken about and displayed for all to see, but I feel that their is a taboo about openly discussing mental illness. In 2015 I aimed to run 15 Marathons / Ultra Marathons for Mind, to help raise awareness of how many people suffer silently with their condition, to show that it can affect anyone and to raise money that can go towards helping those that need it most. By the end of the year momentum carried on and I ended up running 18 marathons.
